MEET SCOTT
Since 1987 Scott B. Gibson has practiced exclusively as a Plaintiff’s attorney representing injured people and families for all types of personal injury, wrongful death, and medical malpractice cases. Beginning in 1992 when Scott opened his own firm, the attorneys of Gibson Steigauf have successfully won over $200 million in compensation for our clients through successful trial verdicts and settlements including over 25 cases of $1,000,000 or more. Additionally, Scott has successfully won multiple record verdicts and settlements throughout the State of Illinois.
Scott has tried over 85 jury trials in multiple State Courts and Federal Court. Scott has also personally written briefs and argued before the Illinois Supreme Court, the 7th Circuit Federal Court of Appeals, and the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th District Illinois Appellate Courts.
Scott was nominated by invitation and elected pursuant to peer review into the most prestigious trial associations in United States and Illinois. Scott is a member of the Society of Trial Lawyers, American Board of Trial Advocates (Advocate Rank-highest trial lawyer honor), Top 100 personal attorneys in the State of Illinois and The Super Lawyers. In 1996, Leading Attorneys/Leading Lawyers issued its inaugural peer-reviewed list of the top 1% of all personal injury attorneys in the state of Illinois. As certified by his peers Scott has consistently been recertified each year.
Scott is a member of the Multimillion Dollars Advocates Forum, Elite Lawyers of America, National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys, Litigation Counsel of America Fellow, and has for many years achieved Martindale-Hubbell’s highest rating of “AV” for legal ability and ethics.
In 2009 Scott was unanimously elected to be the President of the Lake County Bar Association and in 2013 to serve as President of the Lake County Bar Foundation.
In 1983 Scott started his career as a Lake County Felony Career Offender and Sex Crimes Prosecutor. He tried over 40 jury trials and hundreds of bench trials resulting in Successful Guilty Verdicts for the crimes of Murder, Attempt Murder, Rape, Sexual Assault of Children and Major Drug Trafficking.
Scott was a founding Board member and original Treasurer of the Lake County Child Advocacy Center. The Center was the first of its kind in Illinois to provide a safe place and expert therapeutic support for child victims of sexual assault and physical abuse.
